Hunterdon Hospice Brownie Sale!

Brownie Sale

Dear Voorhees Lady Vikes Players and Parents,

The Voorhees Lady Vikes Basketball Team is off to another great season. The girls have been practicing hard and continue their domination on the court! Additionally, the team is also committed to making a difference in our community beyond the basketball court by continuing our exciting Hoops for Hospice program, which we began eight years ago as a fundraiser for Hunterdon Hospice. In the eight years that the Lady Vikes have participated we have raised more than $45,000 to support various programs at Hunterdon Hospice.

Hunterdon Hospice is a non-profit organization that has been serving the needs of the county residents for over twenty five years. Hunterdon Hospice is comprised of a skilled and compassionate team of professionals and volunteers. The goal of their interdisciplinary team is to meet a patient's end-of-life care goals and support their family through the process, including bereavement. They make it possible for families to live each day to its fullest. For more information, visit HYPERLINK "http://www.hunterdonhealthcare.org".

This year's Hoops for Hospice funds will once again be designated to support the Youth Art Therapy Bereavement Program. Our kids will be helping other children who have unfortunately experienced the death of a loved one. This program helps children and their parents move through the grief process by teaching healthy coping skills and a common language of grief, to better prepare the children to meet the challenges of life in a constructive way. This program is not reimbursable through insurance and relies solely on donations to continue to operate and provide much needed support to families in our county.

We will be asking each Basketball Player to solicit donations either based on foul shots made during the Foul Shoot Off Event, time to be determined, or a one time donation. All funds raised benefit the Hunterdon Hospice Program. While monies need not be collected until the end of the season, commitment from sponsors should be obtained as soon as the date is set. Checks should be made payable to Hunterdon Hospice. Please note all monies are usually turned in by the end of February to one of the coaches or Debbie Best. We will advise you of the check presentation date to Hunterdon Hospice once it is confirmed. If you have any questions regarding the program please contact me.

Let's all work to make this a huge success for our community!

Sincerely,
Debbie Best
